ACCHL / BRHC Partnership

Beginning this season, the ACCHL has partnered with the BRHC to form a new collegiate hockey organization named the East Coast Collegiate Hockey Association (ECCHA). This organization will serve as the central regional authority for officiating activities in college hockey in the Mid-Atlantic region. The ECCHA will be responsible for the scheduling and payment of officials for its 30+ teams. Regarding officiating issues, the ECCHA will represent all teams within the BRHC, ACCHL and other independent teams within the region. The ECCHA will adhere to the rules and guidelines of the ACHA, but will be independent to that of any officiating chapter or organization.

ACCHL 2011-12 Kick-off Meeting

The ACCHL will have the 2011-12 Kick-off meeting on September 10th on the grounds of the University of Virginia.

ACCHL All-Star Team Improves Record

2011 ACCHL All-Star Team

The second, bi-annual, ACHA All-STAR CHALLENGE ice hockey tournament was held in West Chester  Pennsylvania on the weekend of April 1-3 2011, where 12 ACHA DII all star teams from all over the United States squared off to compete in the  All-Star Challenge Cup. The ACCHL all star team was composed of 25 players selected by their coaches from all of the ACCHL programs. The ACCHL All-Stars played 5 games: winning 2, tying 1 and losing 2.

The team was lead by head coach Tony Fisher (UVA) and assistant coaches Earl Anderson (UNC), Bill Krampf (UMD) and Mike Silva (UMD). The team captain was Evan Marlow (UNC), and the Assistant Captains were Gus Thompson (Georgetown) and Brett Kiliyanski (Maryland). The ACCHL ALL-STARS played teams from the mid-West, far-West, and mid-Atlantic areas. The team, made up of regular season rivals, came together in the crucible of hotly contested game situations resulting in 2 commanding wins and a regulation tie that went into 3 overtimes before being settled by exhaustion.

As you might expect from an all star selection, scoring was widely distributed among the players indicating their skill levels and competitive spirits. The team’s MVP went to John Ryder of Georgetown with 6G and 2A. The team had the benefit of 3 goalies (Kyle Salvadore – UNC, Matt Mitchell – Maryland and Sean Kudrick – NC State) each put in outstanding performances and deserve our thanks for a job well done. Most importantly every one of the players and coaches alike had a fun time and a great experience.
