ACCHL Coaches Meet

Coaches drop their game faces for a friendly meeting at UNC last month to kick-off the 2009/10 ACCHL season. Topics discussed included League expansion, League finances, new criteria for selecting the program hosting the end of season championship tournament, ideas for greatly expanding team booster clubs and fan base development,and for attracting experienced players to come out for ACCHL hockey. Also discussed was ACCHL direct communication with school program administers at each school.

All Star Team

acchl_allstars_2009_053The ACCHL All Star Team played against the nations best Division II hockey players.

The ACCHL All Stars joined all star teams from nine other leagues, playing five games in three days, including an OT thriller.  This was the first time the ACCHL selected an All Star Team to play against the nation’s best, and the coaches and players represented the league well.

All-Star Team

The ACC Hockey League is fielding a team at the ACHA D2 All-Star Challenge in West Chester, PA.

The ACHA D2 All-Star Challenge will match All-Star teams from leagues from around the country.  The Challenge will take place April 3-5 in West Chester, PA. 

The ACCHL is sending a team comprised of players from all six member schools.

Tech Clinches Regular Season Championship

standings_2009_2-9-09Beating Georgetown for the second time this season, Virginia Tech clinches the ACC Regular Season Title.

Virginia Tech continued their perfect season with a victory on the road against the defending champion Georgetown.  NC State and Duke also picked up victories, dropping G’town from 2nd to 4th. 

This is the final weekend of the regular season.  Duke needs a victory over Tech to hold onto 2nd place.  A loss, with wins from NC State and G’town could dropp the Blue Devils into a tie for 3rd.

Battle for 2nd Place Heats Up

standings_20092Duke picked up a win and NC State picked up 3 points in two games this weekend tightening the standings. Georgetown and Duke are now tied for second with NC State one point behind.

There are seven ACC League games left, with Georgetown and Tech playing a rematch of their Nov. 22 game.  Tech won that matchup 6-2 in Roanoke and now has to travel to DC to face the Hoyas at home.

ACHA All Star Challenge

acha-all-star-challengeThe ACHA is hosting an All Star Tournament for Division 2 affiliate leagues April 3-4-5, 2009 in West Chester, PA Hosted by Ice Line Arena.

ACHA All Star Challenge.   April 3-4-5, 2009 in West Chester, PA Hosted by Ice Line Arena.

 

Teams from ACHA Division 2 affiliate leagues have been given invitation to setup an All Star Squad within their own leagues, send these teams with staffs to participate in a 3 day event to crown an All Star Champion.  GM’s have been selected for Two Independent teams, EAST & WEST, and will be looking for players and staffers to help in allowing full participation from our entire Division Member Teams.

 

Teams will arrive in West Chester for practice Friday afternoon and play 4 games Friday evening, Saturday Morning & Evening, with placement games on Sunday morning to align all the teams Final Placement and crown the Top All Star Squad.

 

This should be a fun and exciting event and we look forward to hosting a new event in the spirit of the other events we have created in the past.  We also hope to have staff from the upcoming European team on site to scout players and take advantage of the timing of this event.

Georgetown and NC State will join sixteen of the nation’s top D2 hockey programs in Hershey, PA for the ACHA Showcase.

Eighteen teams playing twenty-seven games in three days! 

Georgetown and NC State will face tough competition in Hershey. 

NC State plays Siena, one of the Final Four teams from the 2008 Division 2 National Championship on Friday October 17th.
