 Don Martin, Commissioner

Don is currently Senior V.P. of ARPC, Inc. an economic consulting and litigation support firm in Washington D.C. He has been in the economic consulting business for over 25 years. Before that, Don was Professor of Economics at University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida and Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. Don holds a Phd in Economics from UCLA, an MBA from CUNY and a BS from BU.

Hockey experience:  Don began playing ice hockey as a 9 year old with the pee wee hockey program sponsored by the N.Y. Rangers in New York City. He has been a fan and player ever since. Don considers himself fortunate to have played for BU in ’57-’58, “just before they raised their standards.” While on the faculty at UVA, he started the school’s first club hockey program that operated between 1973 and 1977. At that time, they played teams from NCSU, U. Maryland, Wake Forest, Duke, George Washington and the Chesapeake league. After that, UVA hockey disappeared until its modern rebirth in 1995. Don has played with adult hockey clubs in international tournaments in Iceland, Holland, Canada, and the Czech Republic.  He has also coached pee wee hockey locally with Montgomery County MD. Don continues to play pick-up and is in an adult hockey league at the Gardens Ice House, in Laurel MD.

What Don brings to the ACCHL:

* Advanced training in finance and economics and hands on executive experience concerning the finances of a small company.
* Having started club hockey at UVA, he has a personal interest in helping the ACCHL succeed financially and in attracting more members.
* He knows how to make decisions and he is also willing to listen to the suggestions of others.
